Celebrating 2020
Looking back at my blog posts for December 2019, I had asked the question, What did you accomplish this year? And when I think about the year we actually had, my first thought is not much!
But is that really true?
Yes, I didn’t do what I normally do.
Normally I’m on a plane at least once a month heading out to teach continuing education classes. This year I only did that one time. But you know what? I still delivered continuing education classes, I just learned to do it differently.
No doubt this year has been different, but I did accomplish a lot. I just learned to do things differently.
As 2020 comes to a close, I believe it is important to stop and reflect, not on all the disappointments of 2020, but on what we learned in 2020.
Did you learn to deliver virtual classes to your students? Did you have time to take some continuing education classes and improve your knowledge? What did you accomplish this year?
Take time to think about what you have accomplished, things you have enjoyed, and what you have learned both in your personal life and in your professional one. Celebrate all you have accomplished. It can be very empowering to stop, remember, and be grateful for all that has happened.
Sit down and identify 3 things you learned to do this year.
I’ll share mine with you.
- I learned a whole lot about blended learning
- I learned how to use Zoom to deliver an effective and engaging class
- I learned how to kayak
I challenge you all to do this and have your students do this too.
Let’s celebrate 2020 and get ready for 2021
