December National Days
December is here! I’m ready to say goodbye to 2020. Let’s celebrate the end of the year by celebrating some of the National December Days with our students.
Bingo’ Birthday Month. We are celebrating the game, not the dog. Bingo is a great activity to incorporate into your classroom or student salon. In the student salon, create a bingo card with different technical skills in each box. The first student to complete 5 in a row win. For a chapter like electricity, you can blackout bingo. Create a bingo card with all the key terms. Have students go around the building and take pictures that define every key term. This works if your students are working from home as well!
Business Plan Month. Put students in small groups and have them develop a business plan. Click here for a copy of a Business Plan Project grade sheet.
December 1st – National Pie Day. You know the food days are always my favorite. Have each student bring in their favorite pie and share all around.
December 4th – National Cookie Day. Let’s have some color wheel fun. Bring in sugar cookies, white frosting and food coloring and have students make a color wheel. Or you could give the color wheel a break and have them design nail disease or disorders on their favorite cookie. This is another activity the students could do working at home online.
December 4th – National Sock Day. Encourage students to wear their most fun pair of socks. Have students vote on the most colorful, funniest, etc. If you aren’t in the actual school, you could do this one on Zoom.
December 8th – National Pretend to be a Time Travel Day. Have each student pick a time they would most like to time travel to. Then ask them to attend school that day (live or on Zoom) dressed, hair and makeup in that time period.
December 13th – National Cocoa Day. Take an afternoon break and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with your students.
December 15th – National Cupcake Day. If National Cookie Day passed you buy, do the same thing with National Cupcake Day.
December 18th – National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Have a contest on who can show up for classes wearing the ugliest Christmas sweater.
December 21st – National Crossword Puzzle Day. Whatever chapter you are studying this week, create several crossword puzzles, and celebrate today.
