July is upon us! Here are some National Days you might have some fun with:
July 1st – National Postal Worker Day. Give your hardworking mail carrier a gift certificate for the school. They might enjoy a massage, pedicure, or manicure after a hard day’s work.
July 4th – Happy 4th of July! Enjoy your day off!
July 8th – National Freezer Pop Day. Stock up on a bunch of freezer pops and have an afternoon treat with students and clients.
July 9th – National Sugar Cookie Day. Have students show off their color mixing skills by creating a sugar cookie color wheel representing primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.
July 12th – National Simplicity Day. Anytime we hold competitions in the school, students want to show off their most challenging and outrageous hair, nails, or makeup designs. Celebrate National Simplicity Day by having a competition to see which student can style the most beautiful but simplistic hair design, nail polish application, or makeup application.
July 18th – Toss Away the “Could Haves” and “Should Haves” Day. Too often we live our lives with regrets. Today, remind your students that they are currently striving toward their dreams by attending school. Ask them to let go of the “What if I…” or the “If only I would have….”. Release past mistakes and regrets and focus on the choices being made today. Celebrate what you are doing today that will make your tomorrow even better!
July 23rd – Gorgeous Grandma Day. Make it a day to celebrate all the gorgeous grandmas out there. Offer student salon discounts to all the Glam-ma’s including Grandmas, Grannies, Gigis, Memaws, Nanas, Mimis, Grammys, and Buggas!
July 25th – National Hot Fudge Sunday Day. You know I love celebrating anything that allows for a fun afternoon treat in the student salon. Take a break from the hot summer afternoon and have Hot Fudge Sunday “fixins” for all to enjoy!
July 29th – National Lipstick Day. Make sure everyone wears their favorite lipstick color today! Take several selfies and post to your social media pages wishing everyone a Happy National Lipstick Day. Be sure to offer a retail special on your lipsticks for the day.
July 31st – National Get Gnarly Day. Gnarly… can mean dangerous, difficult, challenging, or excellent! Let’s leave the dangerous behind and have a day of challenging but excellent fun in school. Make it a day where students can challenge themselves to do something new and different and be gnarly. From a technical viewpoint, they have not mastered a gnarly color, nail, or makeup design to take that client that has always scared everyone! Celebrate gnarliness and let your enthusiasm show!
