A few weeks ago, I blogged about upcoming National Days and
ways to incorporate them into your schools.
Everyone loved it and asked that I continue it, so here are National
Days for August. There are a ton this
month, so don’t feel like you need to do them all. Pick your top 2 or 3 and have fun!
August 6th – National Wiggle Your Toes Day
Practicing and performing pedicures isn’t
the most glamorous part of our industry, so use this day to have some fun with
it. Offer discounted pedicure services
to your clients and allow all the students to receive a free pedicure this
day. Make it even more fun buy having a
fun competition on best summer nail polish design!
August 8th – National Happiness Happens Day
The purpose of this day is to celebrate
the expression of happiness! Use this day to remind students how excited they
first were when they started school. Try
to tap into that happiness and excitement every day!
August 12th – National Vinyl Record Day
This day is for those of us who grew up listening to vinyl
records. Bring in that record player,
along with your favorite albums and share the awesome music you grew up with on
the student salon for the day.
August 13th – National Left-Handers Day
Use the day to
appreciate all the left-handed students in your school. Have a fun competition between right-handed
students by having them create fingerwaves, pincurls, rollersets or perm wraps
all left-handed. All your left-handed
students to be the judge!
August 17th– National I LOVE My Feet Day
If you didn’t get the
chance to celebrate National Wiggle Your Toes Day on the 6th,
celebrate I LOVE My Feet Day with pedicures and fun polish designs.
August 19th – International Bow Day
Channel your inner JoJo Siwa (if you don’t have girls under
13, you probably don’t know who this is!) by wearing a great big fun bow for
the day! Have clients judge who wore it
best!
August 21st – National Brazilian Blowout Day
Take this day to educate students on a subject you might not
get to spend much time on.
August 21st – National Senior Citizens Day
Offer discounted services to all senior citizens and say
thank you for your business.
August 30th – National College Colors Day
Give dress code a
break and have each student dress in the colors for their favorite
college. I’ll be in Texas Tech red and
black!
August 31st – National Trail Mix Day
Bring in trail mix
for everyone as an afternoon break or theory treat.
August 1 – 7th– National Cleanse Your Skin Week
Have your esthetics students give lessons to clients on the
best way to cleanse their skin.
Week of August 16th – National Elvis Week
Let’s break
out the Elvis music this week and have hairstyling/haircutting contests to
celebrate the fashion and style from the 50s.
August is Back to School Month
Give parents some help on the back to school costs. Offer $5.00 haircuts or half-price haircuts
to all school-age kids.
