A few months ago, I blogged about upcoming National Days and
ways to incorporate them into your schools.
Everyone loved it and asked that I continue it, so here are National
Days for October. There are quite a few this
month, so don’t feel like you need to do them all. Pick your top 2 or 3 and have fun!
October 1st – National Hair Day: Celebrate national hair day by doing what we
love, hair! Allow students a personal
service and have them style each other’s hair into their favorite style. Share pictures on your social media accounts
of student’s favorite style, tools, products and styling tips.
October 2nd – Coffee with a Cop Day. Celebrate
first responders by offering discounted haircuts to police officers for the
day. Don’t forget to have a pot of coffee
on and enjoy a cup with your local officers.
October 4th – National Body Language Day. This
is a great day to have a reminder class on the importance of body language. Remind
students that having positive body language will encourage client satisfaction
and retention.
October 5th – Get Funky Day. Let’s get funky today! Have a competition between students and see
who can come up with the funkiest and most outrageous style today! Take pictures, post on your social media
pages and let your clients vote on who is the funkiest!
October 14th – National Kick Butt Day. Check in with students today and see how
they are progressing toward their goals.
Where are they kicking butt? What
actions do they need to take to start kicking butt on their goals? Have a student salon competition for the day
and see who can kick butt the best!
October 15th – National I Love Lucy Day. Celebrate everyone’s favorite red head by
having a contest for the best Lucy costume.
Or you could have a Lucy hair contest and have everyone recreate their
favorite Lucy hairdo on a mannequin.
October 22nd – National Color Day. Celebrate national color day by offering color discounts on haircolor services.
October 26th – National Make a Difference Day. Spend this day by challenging students to see how they can make a difference in someone’s life. Have students work individually to be a day maker to their client or fellow students. As a school, you can find a place to volunteer for the day and make a difference in your community.
