I recently came across this fun animation software called PowToon’s (www.powtoon.com). If you’re looking for an innovative way to create presentations or assignments that engage your students, you’ll want to check this out. The great news is there is a free version that lets you build an animated video using several backgrounds, images, effects, sounds, and even voiceovers.
PowToon can be a great teaching tool in the classroom to introduce a new topic to students, help bring long lecture times to life, introduce an assignment or project for students, or support a flipped classroom.
The software is easy to use. You simply create an account and then choose from the many pre-populated templates or create your own. Once you have created your video you can easily integrate it into your existing curriculum.
I used the PowToon Mission Impossible template to demonstrate a fun way to introduce a student assignment https://www.powtoon.com/m/bTdH0tDAp0p/2/m.
Ways to use PowToon to create classroom activities:
- Teach a concept
- Introduce a new topic
- Create a commercial for your classroom
- Use as a fun, end-day review
- Have students create PowToon videos
