Teaching interview skills in the classroom certainly isn’t a new concept. As Master Educators, we know the value and the importance of preparing students beyond technical skills. Let’s face it, we all have incorporated interview role-playing activities, watched videos, and maybe even discussed the do’s and don’ts to interviewing.
Certainly, these classroom activities can be effective teaching tools. But, what else? How can we teach students to master this skill of being put on the spot to answer an interview question and successfully answer them?
How about using an interviewing simulation App? I came across the Job Interview App that acts as an interview simulation. Students download the app onto their mobile devices and place themselves in a virtual interview environment, where they are asked a series of interview questions. Students then record themselves answering the questions. If students find themselves in need of some guidance they simply click on the “advice” tab and are directed how to best answer a specific question. Students can re-record themselves answering questions in a safe learning environment.
Thanks to technology we can help remove the fear of interviewing and empower students to be job ready!
