This past weekend I was attending the AACS Conference in Las Vegas. As I walked through the casino I kept hearing the words “Wheel of Fortune” it was as if it was calling to me. As I stood in front of the game and was watching random people play, I observed how excited they got when they could “spin” the wheel. I thought to myself, how could we create this much excitement in our classrooms? How could we use the concept “Wheel of Fortune” to increase our student’s engagement while they learn a new skill?
After doing some online research I found it! It’s called “Wheel Decide.” It’s a free online spinner tool that allows you to create your own digital wheel spinner games.
There are several ways to integrate “Wheel Decider” into your classrooms.
- Use it to select a random student to answer a question or participate in a classroom activity.
- Place questions on the customizable wheel for a fun end day review activity.
- Insert key terms and with a simple click the wheel turns and lands on a word. Students can either look up the term or use their knowledge to answer the question.
Go to http://wheeldecide.com/ scroll down to Wheel Builder, fill in prompts with Wheel Title, Wheel Choices and click Apply. It’s that simple. With one “click” you will be on your way to creating a new “spin” for student engagement.
