As we know, today’s students are digital natives, they connect to digital storytelling as it gives them a voice and a way to communicate their personal understanding of new skills and content in their own, unique way. So, what better way to connect with our students than by grabbing their attention through digital storytelling?
I recently came across an iOS app called Tellagami. (https://tellagami.com) There are two versions, one is free and the other is a paid-for, educational version. The app allows you and/or your students to create short animated videos called “Gamis.” The user creates their own personal avatar. The app allows you to customize your avatar/character by selecting male or female, your own personal wardrobe style and even hairstyles. In addition, you can select a background for your video from one of the pre-created backgrounds or you can upload your own background image. Once your avatar has been created, simply record a voice message, and if you would like, you can even doodle a handwritten message. Once your digital story has been created you can save it and share, it’s that simple.

Here are just a few ways you could incorporate Tellagami’s in your classroom:
Instructors: use it to review key topics, introduce upcoming subjects, and make school announcements.
Students: use it to review key facts, share “ah-ha’s”, pair-share, or for end of day reviews.
The possibilities for utilizing Tellagami in the classroom are endless. The only thing holding you back is your imagination.
