You often hear me talk about the importance of making
classrooms interactive by engaging students through discussion, activities,
projects and experiments. Anything we can do to bring the lesson to life is going
to aid in the students understanding and retention.
You can find new activities and project ideas by watching
what is happening in the salon. What are
the professionals trying out? Are there
any new and interesting techniques or procedures?
These probably won’t be procedures that are offered in your
student salon but can bring some fun into learning.
For example, have you seen the techniques up on YouTube?
My first reaction was “Oh no way! What a mess!!” But then I thought, how fun that would be to try. It would be a great activity to do with students on a slow afternoon. Just be sure to invest in several painters drop cloths from your local hardware store first!
