I don’t know about you, but I love the challenge of a good scavenger hunt.  I just came across an app called Goose Chase that allows you to set up mobile scavenger hunts for your students. You can use this app in the classroom, student salon or as a fun “homeplay” assignment.

This virtual scavenger hunt is a fun way to increase student engagement through playing a game that promotes teamwork, encourages a little friendly competition and more importantly an opportunity to reinforce key skill sets.

The great news is there is a free version for instructors and students and it’s easy to navigate. Simply download the app onto your mobile devices, create a free account, create a new game, set specifics such as students missions, starting time, duration of the game and even set point values for each mission completed.

What makes Goose Chase fun and engaging is when you create a new mission you can choose whether your students will submit a photo, a video, a text response or check in at a particular location.
