Are you looking for a fun way to review a lesson? Why not try a cell phone scavenger hunt? Start by creating a list of 15 to 20 key terms from your lesson. As you begin your class review, place students in groups of 3 to 4 and make sure at least one of them has a cell phone they can use to take photos. Give each group a list of the terms and send them around the school to take pictures that represent each term on your list. Encourage the students to have fun and be creative. Be sure to place a time limit on how long they have to take their photos.
Once the students return to class, have them share the pictures with you. Drop them into a PowerPoint or another photo sharing program and then review all the photos with the full class.
This activity has multiple benefits. It allows students to work together and gives them permission to use their phone for an educational activity. Additionally, because many of our learners are visual learners, it is a great way to reinforce learning. Lastly, you have created a thorough review activity. They are reviewing terms as they are out taking the photos and then again while they are reviewing all of the photos in class. That is a win, win, win activity!
