The physical environment of a school is an often-overlooked area when it comes to creating a place where students can become motivated.  We must create a positive learning environment where everyone feels safe, stimulated and supported. 

The design of our school is an important part of this environment. 

You may look at your school and wish you could do a complete remodel.  New paint, floors, images, equipment, etc.  But you don’t have to pull a Joanna Gaines to liven up the image of your school. 

Look at the images you have hanging around, are they inspiring?  Do they represent the industry well?  Are they current?  Are they from this century?

If you are looking to enhance the quality of the images hanging around the school, consider holding your own photo shoot.

Have students work in groups.  One can be the stylist, one for makeup, one as the model.  Have them create the style and then hold a photo shoot. 

This doesn’t have to be expensive.  You can invest in a backdrop and lights from Amazon for as little as $89.  The student can then conduct their own photo shoot using the camera from their cell phone or you could invest in a basic camera. Take these images and have them printed as posters and you have your new wall art.  

This is a great solution because it involves students.  Don’t you think they are going to be more inspired and motivated if they can see some of their own work hanging on the wall? 

Another idea would be to contact a local college and find photography students who are looking to build their portfolio. They might be willing to work just to have the images.
