As we face the world of online education, one tool that has made it possible for us to deliver our classes online is the video conferencing platform, Zoom. I know most of you were thrown into online teaching virtually overnight and just jumped in and started using it, figuring it out along the way.
Today, the chaos of teaching online has begun to settle, and we can all really start to look at how we can do a better job of delivering online classes. Over the last few months, I’ve had several educators ask me about using Zoom. So I gathered up some of the Milady team and asked them to participate in a Zoom call so I could demonstrate some of the various features that I like to use in a virtual classroom.
Audio and Video Setup
Virtual Backgrounds and Video Filters
Virtual Hand Raising and Recording
Chat
Reaction Buttons
Polls
Breakout Rooms
Share Screen – PowerPoint
Share Screen – Whiteboard
Share Screen – iPhone
There is a lot more to Zoom than what I cover in this blog. I just chose a few of the items that I like to use in the virtual classroom. Remember, if you ever need help on how to navigate Zoom, there are many great tutorials available on YouTube. Just search for what you need to know and there is probably a video that shows you how to do it.
What Zoom feature are you most excited to try with your students?
